Nestle

Overview
With a total workforce of approximately 224,540 people in some 479 factories worldwide, Nestlé is the largest food company in the world with products available in nearly every country. Nestlé's best known product lines include Nescafe, Nesquik, Kit Kat, Butterfinger, Wonka, Carnation and Stouffers. Nestlé produces baby food, diary products, breakfast cereals, chocolate and confectionary, prepared foods, bottled water and petcare products as well as food services on a global scale and requires a world class IT infrastructure to support it.

Challenge
Nestlé's immediate challenge was alleviating problems that stemmed from miscommunication between the central material master administration and field personnel. The use of inconsistent manual processes and the lack of automated workflow made it difficult to accurately monitor the progress of the customer master creation process.

Optura Solution
Nestle implemented a prepackaged Optura Customer Order Management solution that facilitates the setup of new customer masters in SAP. Based on composite application technology, Optura Customer Order Management provides an interface that is accessible by field personnel and all interested stakeholders. Master data information is centrally managed helping to maintain control and consistency but is also open for decentralized input providing flexibility and visibility into the creation process for field people.

Optura Customer Order Management provides secure order entry, consolidated customer pricing, sold-to/ship-to/bill-to information, order status and order history. Information is pulled from and supplied to Nestlé's existing SAP system and available for access and manipulation using workflow methods and applied business rules and policies. Customer Order Management streamlined the process of order management through the complete order lifecycle. Order information is virtually centralized for management but logically decentralized for access and modification by different departments and by customers for self-service.

Results
Nestle experienced several advantages as a result from implementing Optura which lead to increased efficiency and significant cost savings. Benefits included:
